GOOD HEALTH IS REAL WEALTH

November/December 2007 (Issue #1) in pdf format: full color, 23 pages (8.5"x11")

Contents & Description:

The Raw Milk Cure by Jini Patel Thompson – Raw (unpasteurized and non-homogenized) cow’s milk is one of nature’s superfoods. It has been used historically as a therapeutic, elemental diet to cure all kinds of diseases ranging from irritable bowel syndrome to tuberculosis. Jini fills you in on the background, history and gives guidelines for implementing this “original elemental diet".

The Magnesium Maze by Carolyn Dean M.D., N.D. – Studying and writing about magnesium over the past 10 years, I’m prepared to say it is the most important mineral in our body. However, my clients still want to know two things: “How do I know I have magnesium deficiency, and what form of magnesium should I take?” Dr. Dean helps you identify any deficiency and also tells you exactly how to remedy it. Most importantly, she tells you how to supplement with magnesium without getting the laxative effect.

Freedom from Chronic Pain: Getting to the Root Cause by Annabel Fisher, EFT-Advanced - Chronic pain is the body’s way of informing us that it is not at peace; it is dis-eased. It is also a guaranteed way of getting our attention. An enormously effective, safe and non-intrusive way we can respond to pain is by applying Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT). Annabel explains how EFT works and asks you questions to help you get to the root of your distress.

Initiating a Deeper Connection with Your Food by Lisa Marie Battacharya, Holistic Nutritionist - There has been such a ‘disconnect’ in our culture, from not only our food source, but the very food itself. We are eating for fuel, rather than pleasure and deep spiritual nourishment – as food is equally intended. Lisa Marie shows you how to reconnect with your food, thus improving your mental, emotional, and physical health. She also shares her famous mixed grain porridge method – using traditional soaking and fermenting methods.

How to Always Get the Understanding and Compassion You Need by Tom Robinson, M.A., Life Coach - Those of us with a serious chronic illness often find ourselves needing understanding and compassion. Sometimes we can get it from spouses, friends, and others. But as we know all too well, there are times when those people aren't able to give us the understanding and compassion we need. What can we do then? Tom shows you exactly what to do…and what NOT to do.

Eating With The Seasons by Debbie Sarfati, Holistic Health Counselor – Long ago the ancient Chinese discovered that our internal organs respond in very specific ways to seasonal changes in the weather and diet. Our bodies function best when we eat like our ancestors did, consuming foods appropriate to the season. In every season, particular foods stimulate ki – or vital energy – to flow through our organs. This cycle repeats itself every year, creating Mother Nature’s perfect plan for nourishing each organ of our body. Find out which foods are best for your ki during the winter months. Debbie also gives her recipes for Carrot Parsnip Soup and Stuffed Squash.

Is Raw Milk Safe? by Jini Patel Thompson – An examination of the basic safety issues with producing and consuming raw milk, guidelines and links to more in-depth information.

Healing Journey by Nicole Paull - Nicole tells you why Crohn's Disease is both the best and the worst thing that ever happened to her, gives some great advice, and asks some tough questions.

GOOD HEALTH IS REAL WEALTH

January/February 2008 (Issue #2) in pdf format: full color, 21 pages (8.5"x11")

Contents & Description:

"Natural" Winter Skin Care? No Thanks! by Michelle Hancock – How "natural" are the contents of your makeup case? Recent tests suggest that, advertising often to the contrary, cosmetics are holdouts in the trend towards truly organic and toxin-free products. Michelle shows you why and also how to find out the toxicity ranking of the products you're currently using.

Freedom From Chronic Pain Part 2 by Annabel Fisher, EFT-Adv. – By getting clients to tune into their physical pain, and then asking a series of questions, Annabel shows how you can get to the root of your physical pain, and heal it.

Tooth Truth by Jini Patel Thompson & Hal Huggins D.D.S. - More reasons to have your mercury fillings removed (properly) and how Vitamin B12 shots can trigger multiple sclerosis (MS).

Good Digestion Starts In The Kitchen by Lisa Marie Battacharya, Holistic Nutritionist - Before they even get to our mouths, many of our foods need some form of pre-digestive preparation in order for us to receive adequate nourishment from them. This also ensures that they properly break down (digest), without irritating our digestive tracts and putting stress on our organs of detoxification (liver and kidneys). Lisa Marie shows you how to pre-digest your foods before cooking to maximize digestion and absorption.

Take Charge by Tom Robinson, M.A., Life Coach - By taking charge, you can lessen the likelihood that you'll have a flare-up, lessen how often they occur, lessen their duration, and lessen the negative impact they have on your lifestyle if they do occur. Tom Robinson shows you how.

Boswellia & Berberine Fight Intestinal Inflammation by Jennifer Mann, M.A. – Jennifer presents strong clinical research on why Berberine and Boswellia are very effective at healing intestinal inflammation. She also gives practical guidelines for usage.

What If You Can't Listen To Your Gut? by Jini Patel Thompson – Never had much success with the "Dialoguing With Your Body" technique? Do you find it nearly impossible to listen to your gut? Here are some other things you can do to access your intuition or body wisdom easily.

When Supplements Don't Work by Nicole Paull - What can you do when you've tried all the recommended supplements and your symptom still persists? What do you do next to uncover what's really at the root of a stubborn symptom and heal it? Nicole Paull leads the way to success.

The Right-Sized Minerals by Carolyn Dean M.D., N.D. - Physicists tell us that the channels that allow minerals to enter our cells are 4-5 angstroms in diameter (between a nanometer and a picometer-very tiny), yet most oral mineral supplements are thousands of times larger. Obviously, this hampers absorption and utilization of the mineral. Carolyn shows you why size matters in electrolyte replacement for people with chronic diarrhea.

What Initially Causes Serious Illness? by Annabel Fisher, EFT-Adv.
Despite a doctor's thorough examination and questions, which lead to medication being prescribed, the question of why the person became ill in the first place is rarely considered. There may be events in her life; repressed emotions, or strong beliefs, which have contributed to her physical deterioration. Our bodies are incredibly resilient and robust, so what causes them to stop functioning at this dynamic level? Why do some people become seriously ill when stretched to the limit, while others continue functioning comfortably and effortlessly?

Osteoporosis And Chronic Diarrhea by Carolyn Dean M.D., N.D.
There is no question that you lose a lot of calories and nutrients when you suffer from colitis, Crohn's, or IBS-induced chronic diarrhea. As a result, you can lose weight, become fatigued, suffer frequent colds and flus, and can develop osteoporosis. Food in one end and out the other in a matter of hours leaves inadequate time for digestion and absorption. Dr. Dean solves this problem by giving you detailed instructions on what supplements you need, which form to take your supplements in, how to take them for maximum absorption, and other crucial guidelines for treating and preventing osteoporosis.

Gluten-Free: Should you be? by Debbie Sarfati H.H.C.
For the most part, the medical community still sees gluten sensitivity and Celiac Disease as one and the same. So, if your doctor tests you for Celiac Disease and the test results are negative, you might assume that gluten is not the culprit. Not necessarily! Many alternative health practitioners, as well as some progressive MD’s, are starting to understand that there are varying degrees of sensitivity to gluten. For someone who is gluten sensitive (but not necessarily Celiac) removing gluten from the diet can still have a tremendous, positive impact on a variety of health issues.

Chronic Illness & The Family Dynamic by Jini Patel Thompson
There are many different factors that contribute to childhood chronic illness; ranging from environmental and nutritional factors, through to emotional and psychological factors. In my experience, if a child becomes ill and remains ill, it is rarely, if ever, just about the child. Obviously, the mother and father are responsible for their children's physical health. More complex, however, are the ways in which parents are responsible for the emotional and psychological factors which can result in chronic illness. As John Harrison, MD writes in his book Love Your Disease; It's Keeping You Healthy, 'The interaction between members of a family will often initiate and maintain both health and disease.' Jini Patel Thompson explores this volatile topic with clarity and compassion, examining the varied dynamics of the sick child, the wounded parent, and the adult with chronic illness. She also offers a pathway for shift and healing the family dynamic contributing to illness.

Lisa Marie’s Coconut-Lime Chicken Soup by Lisa Marie Battacharya
Get the health benefits of chicken broth and coconut, whilst zinging your tastebuds with the fabulous Thai-flavor of this nourishing soup.

Great Answers To Common Questions by Michelle Hancock
Intrepid researcher Michelle Hancock answers these key questions:
Q: How can I find a local practitioner with experience with a specific health issue (e.g. digestive disorders, irritable bowel disease, cancer, heart disease, etc)?
Q: How can I get fair information on natural health products? Are there any independent companies that can provide fair, objective assessment of natural supplements?

Do You Have A Strong Enough ‘Why’? by Nicole Paull
Holistic healing is hard. That’s a bare-bones fact. If you’re dealing with a serious illness, holistic healing is not for the faint of heart. You need to be a strategist, a researcher, an analyst, a networker, a psychologist, an administrator and a financier – and that’s just the short list. So how do you make a success of it? What do you build on?

How To Get Excellent Medical Care by Tom Robinson M.A.
There are primarily two ways to get excellent medical care. They are: 1) create a partnership with your healthcare providers, or 2) become a savvy medical service customer. Tom Robinson tells you what's involved with each and then shows you exactly how to implement these strategies.

A Limited Belief System Restricts Healing Potential by Annabel Fisher, EFT-Adv.
As an EFT Practitioner - working on my own health, and with clients - I’ve come to realize beliefs can become so all-consuming that we focus only on the belief and the emotions generated by the belief, that ultimately, we stall the possibility of recovery. There isn’t an opportunity for healing to take place. Emotional energy manifests itself on a physical level in the body. In other words, I was in no place to heal when I felt so let down by my body: every cell of my body was resonating resentment and dis- appointment. Unresolved stress on any level - in my case, feeling let down - impacts the body, exhausting the adrenal glands and compromising the immune and nervous systems, and plants the seeds for serious illness and chronic pain.

Safe, Gentle Detox For Sensitive Bodies by Carolyn Dean M.D., N.D.
I’ve been writing and speaking about detoxification for decades. Ever since I realized that the purity of the body was being breached beyond our ability to detoxify, I have advocated safe and gentle ways to cleanse. Cleansing is always the first step in any healing diet or supplement program. Sure, you can start eating organic and taking supplements, but if you don’t detoxify it’s like putting pure water into a dirty pot. The dirt prevails. Let’s first clean out the pot.

Eating-Out With Food Allergies by Debbie Sarfati H.H.C.
Eating out at restaurants can definitely be challenging for anyone with food allergies. But having allergies certainly does not mean a life sentence of boring or only home-cooked fare. Here are some tips to help you dine out more easily, while also being sure that your dietary needs are met.

Heal Disease, Flush Toxins & Rejuvenate by Jini Patel Thompson
This brand new healing protocol utilizes a number of key substances and processes to heal a wide variety of diseases, flush out toxins and take your health to the next level of vibrancy. It’s a protocol that builds upon the Raw Milk Cure I explored in the first issue of this Infoletter. The four steps of the protocol combine the benefits of an elemental diet, a raw juice nutrient infusion and detox, along with specific herbs to support the endocrine system and major organs of detoxification and circulation. This is one of the main benefits of this Infoletter - you get to be one of the first to try this new protocol with me, test it, and help to refine it, long before it's available in any of my books.

Spring Vitality by Lisa Marie Battacharya, R.H.N.
Spring is considered a Yang season; one that has ascending and expansive qualities (think of bursting cherry blossoms). The foods that grow at this time naturally resonate with all of these factors. It is important, as natural beings, to honour and embrace these natural rhythms and be in tune with our natural surroundings, emphasizing in our diets what grows natively and seasonally. This benefits our own health as well as the health of our planet. Includes a delicious recipe for Spring Salad and Dressing/Marinade

Destination: Change by Nicole Paull
If you’re ill, part of getting better is figuring out how you got sick in the first place. You need to ferret out the causative roots of your dis-ease. Having done that, you still have the challenge of addressing those roots and that almost always involves change. To give a simplistic example: if years of eating junk food contributed to your digestive woes, one of the things you’re going to have to actually do is change your eating habits. Sometimes, though, we get paralyzed. Intellectually, we know we need to change, but actually changing feels about as easy as traversing Siberia in January, barefoot and wearing a bikini.

Common Activities That Can Improve Your Health by Tom Robinson M.A.
In this issue, Tom shares with us some innovative and effective ways to improve your health (based on clinical studies) - other than exercising and meditating.

We’re getting into a lot of the nitty-gritty twists and turns of the Healing Journey in this issue. The more compassion and forgiveness we can have for ourselves as we unravel our blocks to healing, the more successful we will be. Wishing you many A-ha moments with this one!

Turning On The Sprinklers

by Carolyn Dean M.D., N.D.
...........................................pg 2

Over a decade ago I viewed with amazement a published study reporting that the previous year the American public had spent $27 billion dollars on natural medicines, foods, vitamins, minerals, teas, herbs, etc. And this enormous sum had been expended in a great majority of cases without any professional guidance whatsoever in what to buy and how to use it. This indicated to me that people in general were attempting to improve or maintain their health by their own means – like many of us have done, reading what we can find on the subject, then choosing those available products that seem to be indicated for our problem...

Chewing

by Debbie Sarfati H.H.C.
................................................pg 4

How many times do you chew each bite of food? Technically called mastication, chewing is the first step in the digestive process. Most people think digestion begins in the stomach, but it actually starts in your mouth. Your saliva produces an enzyme called amylase, which starts to break down the simple starches in your food. The more you chew, the more efficient this part of digestion is. Saliva also is antibacterial and so chewing helps to “clean” the food before it enters the stomach....

Spiritual Healing

by Jini Patel Thompson
...................................................pg 6

What exactly is it that allows some people to be miraculously healed and others not? And if we want to experience miraculous, effortless healing, is there anything we can do to increase the likelihood of that happening?...

Power-packed Summer Berry Smoothie

by Lisa Marie Battacharya R.H.N.
.................................pg 9

This smoothie is packed with antioxidants, vitamins and minerals, fibre, healthy fat, protein and no refined sugar whatsoever!...

Hung up on Cell Phones?

by Michelle Hancock
..............................................pg 10

Viewers of the Larry King Live show got quite an eye-opener on the potential health effects of cell phones during the May 27, 2008 broadcast. The show, sparked by recent controversy about the relationship between cellular devices and brain tumors, featured prominent doctors and researchers who debated the issue. After the show, an online poll revealed that over 80 percent of viewers believed cell phones pose a danger to health. One thing everybody could likely agree with is that not enough of us read cell phone product inserts, which actually advise us to hold cell phones surprisingly far from our heads—six to seven inches!...

How Long Is Healing Going To Take?

By Nicole Paull
................................................pg 12

One of the most common questions I’m asked - and one of the hardest to answer - is how long should I expect healing to take? I thoroughly understand the emotion that goes into a question like this. For one thing, dis-ease affects your entire life - your ability to earn a living, care for your family, take a vacation and so on. At the same time that your earning potential may be affected, if you’re pursuing natural healing protocols, you’re facing additional financial pressures because whatever health coverage you have probably isn’t covering much - if anything - of what you’re doing...

Stop Beating Yourself Up!

by Tom Robinson M.A.
................................................pg 14

Having coached people with chronic illnesses for the past five years, I’ve learned that many of them often feel inadequate, guilty, and beat themselves up because they can’t do all the things for the important people in their lives that they formerly could. For example, not too long ago, a woman with fibromyalgia, a painful and often debilitating chronic illness, contacted me. Amy wanted to know how she could do the housework and the many other tasks she felt she needed to do to be a good wife...

Deserving Wellness

by Annabel Fisher EFT-Adv
.........................................pg. 16

Accepting who we are and how we are feeling is the first step to recovering from illness and pain. In fact, unresolved emotions, which have been stuffed down inside of us for years, could well be the trigger for the illness and pain in the first place...

Overcoming Subconscious Resistance to Change Using EFT
By Annabel Fisher, EFT-Adv.

Sometimes it's easier to give attention to what we don't want in our lives, rather than what we do want. We focus on our lack of money, our poor health, or chronic pain, or how unhealthy we feel after eating a "comfort" food.

When we make a definitive decision to focus on what we do want, powerful fears can arise about making the necessary changes. For example, "If I have money, I'll have to be responsible", or "If I am healthy and vibrant again, I’ll be expected to return to work and/or look after the family", or " If I stop eating these cookies every evening, I'll have to face what's missing in my life"…

Gluten-Free, Naturally
by Debbie Sarfati, HHC

About two and a half years ago, I learned that I was highly intolerant to gluten, which was actually something that I had suspected for years. At first, I was happy to have discovered this; it seemed to be an opportunity to further improve my health and possibly prevent future related illness. I was feeling very positive about making this dietary change—that is, until my mind shifted to thinking about the list of my favorite foods that I would never taste again: NY pizza, Challah bread, and Black & White cookies. Suddenly the list of the foods I would NEVER eat again was all I could think about. So, in an effort to ease my mind and learn what my new options would be, I went out to the store on my first gluten-free shopping pursuit. As I looked down at my own shopping cart, I suddenly became aware of how different the contents were…

The Role Of 'Letting Go' In Healing
By Jini Patel Thompson

And this phenomena is simply the balance between doing everything you can to effect healing, and then also forgetting about the Healing Journey altogether and dwelling in joy, positivity and peace – for as much of the day as you can.

Many of you have heard the aphorism: What you resist persists. Or, whatever you focus on, you will call to yourself. Or, whatever you focus on, grows. When applied to the Healing Journey, these concepts dictate that you focus on the positive outcomes you want to achieve. That you look for and celebrate each step forward – no matter how small.

It's an important distinction to keep in mind that being aware of your reality and framing that reality in a negative way, are two different actions, energetically. Let's use the example of malnutrition and look at the two different ways that issue can be managed – one of them positive and the other negative…

Paying For Natural Healing
By Nicole Paull

I think everyone knows that if he or she is dealing with a serious illness, dealing with it holistically is going to involve some out-of-pocket expenses. The question is how much and for how long?

This article isn't going to question the ideals expressed in Listen to Your Gut. I believe in them. If you can comfortably stretch to follow them to a tee, I'm all for that and I hope to join your ranks someday! For awhile I did, but when the balance sheet showed that we were spending more than we were making in order to do so, some changes were in order for me. This article is probably not going to be of much interest to people who have an abundance of disposable income. It's probably not going to be much use to someone who's abjectly poor. It's written for people like me, who weigh and balance expenses by dint of necessity, but not by dire necessity. I'm going to share my experience dealing with out-of-pocket expenses - what I did that I'm glad I did and what I wish I'd tweaked a little sooner to reflect my own circumstances. The intent is to pick out some underlying principles that can be put to good use. I'll also share some resources that I've found particularly helpful…

Dealing With Others When You Have a Chronic Illness
By Tom Robinson, M.A.

The first thing I’ve learned is that, more than anything else, there is one thing those of us with chronic illnesses are not getting from other people that we really want: Understanding. We want others to know how hard it is for us, both physically and emotionally, to live with a chronic illness. It’s not surprising that not getting the understanding we want is such a common problem. The reason it’s not surprising (at least not to me) is because I don’t think it is possible for a person who has never had a chronic illness to truly know what living with one is like.

That said, it is almost always possible to get more understanding from others than we currently do. The best way to do that, in my experience, is to avoid complaining about not being understood and to not criticize the other person for not giving us the understanding we want. Instead, what works best is…

Natural Treatment for Ear Infection
By Jini Patel Thompson

Young children are often prone to ear infections (even if they do not eat pasteurized dairy products) - due to the straightened angle of their Eustachian tubes and sometimes very narrow ear canals, which further prevent proper drainage of mucus.

Without going into the entire history, and ALL the things I have tried - both drug (out of desperation and worry that I might 'harm them for life') and natural treatments – to heal my children's ear infections, here is just what works.

I've actually worked out two protocols - one for older children, who can take wild oregano oil orally, and one for younger children/babies who cannot take wild oregano orally. Remember that wild oregano is anti-fungal, anti-yeast, anti-viral and anti-bacterial - so you're covered no matter what's causing the infection. These protocols can also be applied to adults with ear infection and I will give the adult dosage equivalents as we go along.

Zucchini Bounty
By Lisa Marie Battacharya

Zucchini Season is upon us! I’ve just eaten up my first 2 big ones and what a delight!

Freshly picked zucchini is a wonderfully vital whole food that provides many vitamins and minerals, antioxidants and much more. Farmer’s markets are the freshest source, after your own garden of course. Here are 2 great recipes to celebrate zucchini with: Sauteed Zucchini With Feta and Zucchini Chocolate Chip Loaf (made with spelt flour).

Unearthing the Downside to Being Well
By Annabel Fisher, EFT-Adv.

I have just started a new six-week teleclass series on chronic illness, Tap Into Your Healthy Self, and in the first teleclass we discussed, and used EFT on, the downside of being well and healthy. This is a theme I have mentioned in a previous edition of Good Health is Real Wealth, and it is a concept which continues to fascinate me.

DMSO: Natural Healing Wonder
By Jini Patel Thompson

Lately I've been experimenting with an amazing natural substance called DMSO (dimethyl sulfoxide). It's gotten the most press as a topical application for relieving arthritis. However, that application is merely the proverbial tip of the iceberg for this multi-tasking healing aid. In many ways, it reminds me of wild oregano oil in that it has such a broad range of uses and the ability to produce such amazing results fairly quickly.

A Natural Approach to Candida Overgrowth
By Lisa Marie Bhattacharya, R.H.N.

Candida, a yeast-like fungus that exists in the body, is a dampness issue, as per Traditional Chinese Medicine. This means that there is a pathological excess of damp-related symptoms in the body. Candida overgrowth (I say 'overgrowth' because it always exists at low-levels) presents several tell-tale signs. These include a feeling of heaviness, sluggishness, mental dullness, bloating, Vaginitis, Prostatitis, Athlete’s Foot, low immunity in general (susceptibility to recurring infections) and cravings for sweets and breads.

Toxin-free Turkey, Anyone? Make your holidays organic this season
By Michelle Hancock

So the holidays are coming and you want to eat a little, well, if not healthier than cleaner. What better way to assuage your guilt over that extra helping of stuffing than to opt for certified organic foods?

The Other Side of Money
By Nicole Paull
My last infoletter article was about paying for natural healing. Since then, we've had some exciting times – round-the-world reverberations from major bank failures, a massive government bailout of the credit market here in the U.S., stock markets on a wild rollercoaster ride, heightening apprehension about the future of the economy – the kind of excitement most of us would be very happy to do without.

The Flow of Money
By Jini Patel Thompson

The flow of money is a principle talked about by even the most dogged entrepreneurs. Many top business gurus (like Dan Kennedy and Robert Kiyosaki) advise their clients and readers to donate a percentage of their profits no matter what their financial situation is. Robert Kiyosaki – many of you will recognize him as the best-selling author of Rich Dad Poor Dad – talks about when he and his wife were so poor they couldn't even afford an apartment and were living out of their car, and they still gave 10% to charity of whatever they made. Today, of course, they are extremely wealthy.

Keeping Hope Alive
By Tom Robinson M.A.

When life is difficult, as it often is when we have IBS or IBD, one of the most important things that help us keep going is the prospect of a better future. But given the many challenges, hardships, and disappointments that can come with IBS or IBD, hope like that can be hard to come by. Fortunately, there are things you can do to make hope for a brighter future real and then keep it alive.

Letting Go of the Guilt Attached to Being Ill
By Annabel Fisher, EFT-Adv.

When I work with clients who are seriously ill, one of the strongest negative emotions they often feel around being ill is guilt. They feel guilty because they can't work or do the things they once did, guilty for needing care and support, guilty for resting, and guilty for not doing enough in general. The challenge with this limiting belief is that it influences our rest time. It can lead to us dismissing our bodies' needs because there is just so much to do and we “should be doing more”. We decide to soldier on, instead.

The Journey Is The Point
By Jini Patel Thompson

Below is an email I received from one of my readers named Abby (not her real name). I am so thankful to her for writing in and sharing truthfully about her healing journey. I wanted to share it with you, because I think her letter highlights difficulties that we all face, or will face as we strive to heal ourselves:

Potpourri
By Nicole Paull

I'd like to share the home remedy I came up with for self-treating vaginal yeast infections. After researching, I tried saline baths and apple cider vinegar baths, but didn't find they accomplished enough. I'd also seen a recommendation to douche with apple cider vinegar, but didn't like the idea of it. I tried applying wild oregano oil at a 20:1 dilution. Well, maybe I'm just sensitive, but after I peeled myself off the ceiling, I decided once was enough for that idea. Then I thought of...

How to Have Good Communications with Your Healthcare Provider
By Tom Robinson M.A.

In the March 2008 issue of Good Health is Real Wealth, I provided some useful strategies for getting excellent medical care. However, no strategy for getting top-notch treatment will work well if you don’t have good communication with your provider. In this article I’m going to give you some suggestions and techniques for establishing and maintaining a free flow of ideas and information with your doctor.

Yeast and Inflammation.

Inflammation is a HOT topic, an Internet search on the word turns up an overwhelming 37.5 million hits. Journals of inflammation, inflammation research associations, and drug companies are all scrambling to find a drug to treat this scourge.

Q&A with Jini Patel Thompson
By Jini Patel Thompson

Question: This past year we purchased materials from your company for our 23 yr. old son, who was diagnosed with IBD-UC in 2003. This past summer, we came upon a website: www.resolvecolitis.com ("Back to Health Minerals") and wondered whether Jini (or your company representatives) have had any experience with that company or their representative/contact person, David Parish (spelling). We would appreciate your input. Thanks so much.

A diet featuring plenty of fresh, organic vegetables is one of the best things you can give to your body. Here's the rub: Vegetables don't always taste that good.

The Need To Make Peace With The Past In Order To Heal
By Annabel Fisher, EFT-Adv.

The majority of chronically ill clients I work with are on some form of medication. Their medical doctors have outlined what they can hope to accomplish, and how their body will respond, if they continue to use the medication; and what to expect if they choose not to take the drugs, or decide to stop taking them. A lot of attention is focused on fixing the illness as it now exists, and rightly so. On the other hand, surely coping strategies are only part of the equation. What led to the illness appearing in the first place, and why is that rarely considered?

How To Gain Weight
By Jini Patel Thompson

While there are hundreds of books and articles with tons of ideas on how to lose weight, if you are a skinny person who's trying to gain weight – and you're not a bodybuilder – there's not a whole lot of information available.

As someone who has had to both lose weight (35 extra pounds from prescription steroid use) and gain weight (lowest weight: 99 lbs after colonic hemorrhage; I'm 5'7"), I've got a pretty good handle on both sides of the equation.

Update on DMSO & Potassium Iodide Experimental Protocols
By Jini Patel Thompson

In Issue #7 of the Good Health Is Real Wealth infoletter, I presented my new, experimental protocols using DMSO and potassium iodide to heal both internal and external hemorrhoids and also to soften and dissolve rectal scar tissue or other traumas to the rectal tissue that result in anal stenosis (narrowing). So please go and read that article again to refresh your memory as I won't repeat any of that information here.

I have continued to experiment with the formula for internal use and here's what I've discovered: Syringing the formula into the rectum is messy and fairly time consuming. Therefore, I developed a new delivery method of putting the formula into suppository form and this has been working really well.

Making Food Go Further: The Art of Freezing
By Debbie Sarfati H.H.C.

One of the best ways to save money is to make sure that you don’t waste any of the food that you buy! I can’t tell you how often I hear from clients that they were so proud of themselves for buying a ton of fresh food – but then watched it “die” in their refrigerator as the week went on. Or, when they finally remembered they had bought it, the food was already past it’s time. The right intention was there, but....

The Power of Sprouts
By Lisa Marie Bhattacharya, R.H.N.

Many do not realize the healing power of sprouts but the founder of the Hippocrates Health institute, Ann Wigmore, dedicated her life to rediscover the healing and culinary properties of sprouts. Her institute treated people, over many years, for many different disorders. Sprouts were found to contribute extensively to the immune system, as excellent detoxifiers. Being biogenic, sprouts are attributed rejuvenation qualities (creative life force). This contributes to the vitality and stamina experienced by thousands who consume them regularly. They are rich in vitamins, minerals, proteins, and relevant enzymes to assist digestion.

Looking The Part
By Nicole Paull

I know a woman my own age with a very pretty face and a lovely, hourglass figure. She's athletic and slim. In fact, a lot of people would probably envy her, not only for how she looks, but for her success on a number of levels. But she confessed to me that what she sees – and hates – when she looks in the mirror is "jiggle".

Q&A with Jini Patel Thompson
By Jini Patel Thompson

Question: I'm very concerned about the issue of Absorb Plus feeding Candida. I decided to use Absorb Plus to do the IBD Remission Diet because your book says that it would starve the good and bad bacteria in the gut, almost creating a clean slate for the gut, to be then populated with probiotics. (Incidentally I have been taking probiotics twice daily anyway, whilst on the diet.) Now I'm feeling this description of Absorb Plus wasn't accurate: it seems it may starve off some bacteria but actually feeds, and can contribute to one of the most harmful, the Candida, increasing rapidly!

I'd learned a lot about estrogen/progesterone balance in What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Premenopause by John R. Lee, MD and Jesse Hanley, MD. Hormone balance had been touched on briefly in the recent teleseminar Jini Patel Thompson held with Dr. Carolyn Dean. Information about the thyroid had been included in a recent edition of Dr. Joseph Mercola's newsletter. In any case, with this history, The Thyroid Solution (as you would guess, it's all about the thyroid gland) sounded interesting and I went ahead with the purchase.
